The Vizconde Massacre

Episode on November 27, 2008 Thursday night after Saksi The eve of June 30, 1991 will forever be etched in Lauro Vizconde’s mind as his life’s darkest moment, when his wife Estrellita and daughters Carmela and Jennifer Vizconde were brutally killed in their own home in Parañaque City in a gruesome massacre that shocked the nation. Several suspects were presented by the police, but were released soon after due to lack of evidence. The case of the Vizconde Massacre took another direction only after four years, when Jessica Alfaro surfaced and became the case’s star witness. Alfaro accused Hubert Webb, son of former senator Freddie Webb, as the mastermind of the massacre, along with five other men, all coming from prominent families. Nine years after the murder, the court found the suspects guilty of the crime and sentenced with life imprisonment. Up to now, the defense claims there are still questions about the case that were left unanswered. Why did it take four years before Alfaro gave her testimony? Why does the defense insist that several of their presented evidences were ignored by the court? Lauro Vizconde retells the pain of losing his own family from the brutal slaughter, while Freddie Webb reiterates the reasons why he believes his son is innocent and is just a victim of injustice. June 30, 1991, gumulantang sa sambayanan ang karumal-dumal na krimen na tumapos sa buhay ng mag-iinang Estrellita, Carmela, at Jennifer Vizconde. Apat na taon makalipas ang krimen, lumantad si Maria Jessica Alfaro, ang tinaguriang "star witness" itinuro niyang mastermind sa krimen si Hubert Webb, anak ng sikat na aktor at noo'y kongresista na si Freddie Webb, kasama ang lima pang kalalakihan galing sa prominenteng pamilya. Taong 2000, “guilty" ang hatol sa anim na akusado. Ang sentensiya, habambuhay na pagkakabilanggo. Pero makalipas ang labingpitong taon, sinasabing hindi pa rin tuluyang natutuldukan ang kaso. Bakit nga ba inabot ng apat na taon bago lumantad si Alfaro? Bakit sinasabing marami sa mga ebidensiya ang hindi binigyang halaga ng korte?
