Ants and glowing squid on ‘Born to be Wild’

BORN TO BE WILD
January 5, 2020

They rarely go solo because they are stronger in colonies. They are often overlooked because of their size. But with the aid of macro lenses, Born to be Wild takes you inside the world of these small but terrible creatures: ants! Doc Nielsen observes how ants look for food. In an eye-popping sequence, ants are shown ripping apart their prey. And in another scene, one unfortunate ant becomes trapped in a quicksand-like lure made by a critter known locally as kutong lupa.

Doc Ferds goes black diving in the Philippines’ center of the center of marine biodiversity. In a “black dive”, a specialized night dive, alien-like creatures can be observed underwater. See what a glowing squid and other strange luminescent creatures look like in the dark. But one creature in particular catches the team’s eye: a marine animal carrying a piece of plastic as it swims.

It’s the first Sunday of 2020! Join your favorite vets Doc Ferds and Doc Nielsen in this episode of Born to be Wild, right after AHA!
