At an estimated sixteen years old, the friendly dugong Aban is nearing adulthood. The Tagbanua locals, whose lives changed after Aban’s presence gave them livelihood, know that it is only a matter of time before the dugong leaves the island to look for a mate and search for other areas to feed. They wonder how long Aban will stay or if there are other dugongs like him.
On their final day of filming, Doc Ferds and the Born team see a potential “Aban” in the making. It becomes apparent that dugongs continue to propagate in the area when the team sights a mother and baby dugong.
Doc Nielsen and crocodile experts have been monitoring a peculiar kind of crocodile in Tawi-Tawi which has markings more commonly seen in crocs from other countries in Asia. After collecting samples from different crocodiles in Tawi-Tawi, we will finally confirm whether these individuals—which are bigger and more aggressive—come from Malaysia. This episode is the big reveal.
Don’t miss the finale of the 12th anniversary series of Born to be Wild, Sunday morning after AHA!
