'Born to be Wild' features Philippine macaques and reticulated pythons

BORN TO BE WILD
Line-up for February 17, 2019
In a town in North Cotabato, three troops of Philippine macaques regularly emerge from the forests to look for food. The residents of New Israel treat the macaques as regular neighbors. They explain that each group of macaques has a name given by the residents, a leader, and a different dynamic. The Born team documents the “Democracy” macaques as they go up against the “Rebels” in a fight for dominance. Doc Nielsen also learns how humans have co-existed with wildlife since the 1960s.

In Cebu, reticulated pythons that stray into people’s homes are regularly turned over to the local DENR. Authorities say that these pythons are often captured in human settlements that are near forests. Doc Ferds and his team participate in an effort to release the pythons but upon check up, Doc Ferds sees that not all snakes are fit for release. One has to undergo a surgery.
