'Reptile Kingdom' series finale, this Sunday on 'Born to be Wild'
REPTILE KINGDOM
A 'Born to be Wild' special series
Last week, we met Andeng, a rescued crocodile who has been the subject of debate among reptile experts. Andeng possesses characteristics of both the freshwater and saltwater crocodile. Is Andeng a Philippine freshwater crocodile or is she a saltwater croc? To finally answer this question, Andeng’s DNA is submitted for a bar coding test. The results may point to a new phenomenon recorded in the Philippines.
We also met Jud, the oldest Philippine freshwater crocodile in captivity. Jud has been under the care of a local family in Negros since the end of World War II. To confirm whether Jud is indeed the oldest pure breed Philippine freshwater crocodile, a DNA test is performed. Still in Negros Occidental, Doc Nielsen checks on an escaped saltwater crocodile found by construction workers in a new subdivision.
