Squid harvest and wild bird rescue on 'Born to be Wild'

When it’s not tuna season, fishermen in Albay’s Lagonoy Gulf catch an equally large species: the diamondback squid. Doc Nielsen and his team join squid fishers to document how they harvest these ocean giants. Underwater, they are majestic deep sea dwellers with amazing defenses and the team’s cameras are rolling when a giant squid expels ink onto a fishing boat.

In Catanduanes, Doc Ferds meets residents who keep wildlife as pets. While the locals know that animals are better off in the wild, they say they had tried to rescue their wild pets from other dangers. One macaque was first seen roaming around a cemetery looking weak and hungry. In one of the homes, Doc Ferds sees a rare wild bird with a wounded wing and immediately works on saving the animal.
