Creatures of darkness and water snakes on 'Born to be Wild'

BORN TO BE WILD
October 25, 2015 lineup

Throughout history, bats have had a bad rep as being “agents of the dark side.”  But Doc Ferds discovers that it is far scarier to imagine a world without these winged creatures.  Bats play a huge role in the environment.  Besides helping in seed dispersal, they also help control the population of insects, like mosquitoes, that can bring deadly diseases to humans.

Doc Nielsen encounters a species of water snake called the “duhol” or file snake.  This species was documented by Doc Nielsen’s team in Laguna some years ago.  But unlike the file snakes in Laguna, the duhols of Mindoro have yet to be studied.
