Charming seals and endangered Cantor turtles on 'Born to be Wild'

Airing date: August 16, 2015

Doc Ferds travels to the Isles of Shoals in Maine, USA for his first encounter with wild seals. These animals enjoy the summer in the Atlantic Ocean. In the Isles of Shoals, seals are protected. Boats are actually prohibited to dock where the seals are found. In other countries, a conflict exists between people and seals. In Scotland, Canada and Namibia, seals are seen as pests to the fishing industry. To understand their behavior, Doc Ferds dives with the seals and observes their friendly and playful nature.

Doc Nielsen continues his Vietnam adventure. He learns that the Cantor turtle, an endangered species found in the Philippines, is also found in Vietnam. In both countries, the Cantor is a victim of the illegal wildlife trade, which is why their population is already threatened in the wild.
