Wild snake sightings on "Born To Be Wild"!
In Zambales, Doc Ferds encounters large reticulated pythons, proof of the place’s richness in reptile endemism. While Zambales is known for its pristine beaches and natural landscape, little is still known about the species that thrive in the area; Doc Ferds and his team try to find out more about Zambales’ wildlife. In Masbate, Doc Nielsen finally sees groups of sea snakes that can be a source of venom for anti-venin production. For tropical countries like the Philippines that have a high occurrence of snake populations, the production of anti-venin is key to ensuring safe co-habitation between snakes and humans. Doc Nielsen’s team also witnesses a natural occurrence: predation in the cave system leading to a battle between bat and snake!
For a country that is “mega diverse” or rich in diversity of species like snakes, our knowledge about these amazing slithering creatures is still limited. The Docs and the experts attempt to change that. “Snake Island” continues on "Born To Be Wild" this Wednesday, after Saksi!
