May kapansanan pero may kakayanan. Iyan ang pinatunayan ng mga manggagawa ng Grub PH sa Davao, isang social enterprise na gumagawa ng mga tsinelas mula sa mga lumang gulong. Ang kanilang mga empleyado, mga People with Disability o PWD.

Kwento ni Nieves, isa sa mga tagagupit at tagadikit sa Grub, maliban sa kabuhayan, masaya raw siya rito dahil ito ang trabahong tumanggap sa kanyang kalagayan. Aniya, "Para sa akin, normal lang ang ginagawa ko. Kagaya ng normal. Sa tingin niyo nahihirapan ako pero sa akin, hindi."

Ganito rin ang layunin ng Project Smile. Mabigyan ng kabuhayan at transportasyon ang mga PWD sa pamamagitan ng PWD-friendly tricycle.

Ang pasan na kapansanan, diskriminasyon at kakulangan ng oportunidad sa mga PWD, tutukan natin ngayong gabi, 7:15pm sa Bawal ang Pasaway kay Mareng Winnie kasama sina Amae Guerrero, co-founder ng Grub at Carms de Guzman, Director of Creatives ng Project Smile

Disabled but able. This is the cry of People with Disability or PWDs in the country. "For me, I can function the way normal people do. You think it is difficult for me to function, but for me, it isn't," says Nieves, a PWD with one hand who works as a cutter in Grub PH. Grub PH is a social enterprise in Davao that employs PWD by creating footwear out of recycled tires.

To empower PWDS, provide employment and transportation is also the aim of Project Smile by creating a PWD-friendly tricycle.

This evening, Bawal ang Pasaway kay Mareng Winnie gives light to the challenges, discrimination and opportunities of PWDs in the country together with Amae Guerrero, co-founder of Grub and Carms De Guzman, Director of Creatives of Project Smile.
