Usapan sa West PH Sea, tatalakayin sa 'Bawal Ang Pasaway'!

BAWAL ANG PASAWAY KAY MARENG WINNIE
MARTES, JULY 23, 2019, 7:15 PM ON GMA NEWS TV

Ani Carpio, “The moment they fire at us, we can invoke the defense treaty.... China will never attack our coast guard because that will draw the US in.”
“I don’t think it will reach that but we will lose the West Philippine Sea. Once we lose it, we will lose it to China forever.”

Is the Philippines shipping its rights to the West Philippine Sea to China? Three years after the Arbitral Tribunal victory in The Hague, Netherlands, the Philippine government has continuously allowed the Chinese to fish in its territory. According to Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, the country’s foremost expert on the WPS, we should not fear war. “The moment they [China] fire at us, we can invoke the defense treaty…. China will never attack our coast guard because that will draw the US in,” says Carpio. What is definite, Carpio adds is that if we don't defend our rights, we will lose the West Philippine sea forever. This will pose a problem in six to eight years when the country needs another source of fuel reserves, or when Malampaya's gas dries up. Is the Philippines being shortchanged by China? Will the government continue to be mum about it? What else can the government do about our territorial dispute? Find out this Tuesday, 7:15pm on Bawal ang Pasaway as Mareng Winnie picks the brains of Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio.
