Biden appoints Fil-Am as deputy commissioner of US Bureau of Reclamation
A Filipino-American was appointed by US President Joe Biden as deputy commissioner of a water management agency under the Department of the Interior.
Camille Calimlim Touton, who is from Pangasinan, was appointed deputy commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation, according to an Unang Balita report on Tuesday.
Touton's family migrated to America when she was still in elementary school.
Touton served as a former water policy adviser to Representative Grace Napolitano of the 32nd district of California.
She also worked at the Office of Water and Science during the Obama and Trump administrations.
Pangasinan Representative Christopher de Venecia has filed a resolution at the House of Representatives in recognition of Touton. —Jamil Santos/KG, GMA News
