DFA: 13 more Filipinos abroad get COVID-19; total now at 14,671
The Department of Foreign Affairs on Monday reported 13 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos abroad, bringing the total tally to 14,671.
The DFA said total recoveries also climbed to 9,231 after 11 more Filipinos overcame the viral disease, while the death toll remained at 979.
So far, there are 4,461 active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.
Meanwhile, the total number of countries with confirmed Filipino COVID-19 cases remained at 86.
The Middle East/Africa remained the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 8,103 with 633 deaths and 4,755 recoveries.
The Asia Pacific Region followed with 2,867 infections, including 21 fatalities and 2,042 recoveries.
In Europe, a total of 2,846 Filipinos were infected with the virus. Of the number, 124 have died, while 1,852 have recovered.
The Americas, meanwhile, has recorded 855 cases with 201 fatalities and 582 recoveries.
