Pinoys in South Korea advised to avoid joining public demonstrations

The Philippine Embassy in Seoul advised Filipinos in South Korea to avoid crowded places and comply with laws prohibiting foreigners' participation in demonstrations.

"With the expected holding of massive public assemblies, demonstrations and protests in the coming days in view of the current domestic situation in South Korea, Filipino nationals are advised to observe the usual precautions and to avoid crowded and congested public areas," the embassy said Saturday in a post on Facebook.

"The Embassy further reminds Filipinos that under the laws of Republic of Korea, foreigners are prohibited from participating in local political activities, including public demonstrations under Article 17 of the Immigration Control Act (Sojourn and Departure of Foreigners) of South Korea," it added.

"The Embassy advises all Filipino nationals to comply with all local laws and regulations to avoid any issues that may affect their stay in South Korea," the statement read.
