PH to announce 3,500 job openings for hotel workers in Croatia

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) will soon unveil 3,500 job opportunities for Filipino hotel workers in Croatia, which will include roles for hospitality staff, housekeepers, and bartenders.

This initiative is part of a government-to-government agreement designed to create employment prospects for Filipinos overseas.

DMW Undersecretary Patricia Yvonne Caunan said the agency is finalizing the guidelines for this collaboration between Croatia and the Philippines.

“Since this is a G-to-G arrangement, there won't be any placement fee, and applications must be submitted exclusively through the DMW,” Caunan said.

Filipino hotel workers in Croatia can look forward to earning over 1,000 euros, which is more than 62,000 pesos each month, along with various benefits offered to employees in the country.

Caunan stressed the urgency of the situation, saying, “Our Croatian partners have communicated that they need workers this summer, especially in late April and May. So, expect an announcement from the DMW regarding the hiring process soon.”

Those eligible to apply for these roles include Filipino hotel workers who were scheduled to work in Israel but were affected by a deployment ban.

Slovenia

Alongside the opportunities in Croatia, the DMW is also finalizing a government-to-government pact with Slovenia to meet the demand for caregivers, with thousands of Filipino workers expected to be needed in that sector.

Filipino caregivers in Slovenia can anticipate a starting salary between 1,500 and 2,500 euros, which translates to approximately 94,000 to over 156,000 pesos monthly.

Additionally, Hungary has declared that the Philippines will be its exclusive source of skilled labor, underscoring the increasing demand for Filipino workers overseas.

The DMW has urged job seekers to steer clear of employment offers on social media to avoid falling prey to illegal recruiters, advising that applications should only be made through the official DMW website. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
