PH Embassy in Lebanon urges caution amid Nasrallah funeral
The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon has advised Filipinos in the country to remain cautious and stay indoors as the funeral of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is set to take place on Sunday, February 23.
"Filipino nationals residing in Lebanon are advised to maintain vigilance in their surroundings and to avoid demonstrations and large gatherings," the embassy stated in a February 19 Facebook post.
For assistance, permanent residents can contact the Embassy ATN hotline at 70 858 086, while workers may reach the Migrant Workers Office Hotline at 79 110 729.
Nasrallah was killed in a powerful Israeli airstrike on Hezbollah’s central command headquarters in Beirut’s southern suburbs in September 2024, according to the Israeli military.
The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that Israeli attacks in September 2024 resulted in over 1,000 deaths and 6,000 injuries, with approximately one million people displaced. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
