OWWA launches new logo

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration officially unveiled its new logo at an event on Wednesday.
The program, led by OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio and Department of Migrant Workers Hans Leo Cacdac, emphasized the department’s commitment to the betterment of Overseas Filipino Workers nationwide, and the importance of the change.
“Dati kasi, yung design ng logo is modelled after ating pinakamamahal na mother agency, the Department of Labor and Employment. But now, of course, we are a family together with the Department of Migrant Workers. Ito na yung signal ng transition and transformation. Dapat lang magkaroon ng bagong logo,” said Cacdac.
(Before, the logo was modelled after our mother agency, the Department of Labor and Employment. But now, of course, we are a family together with the Department of Migrant Workers. This signals our transition and transformation. It was about time for a new logo.)
The new logo incorporates several elements, including three stars that signify the unity between the government, OFWs, and the private sector; and a sun with eight rays symbolizing the eight key functions of the OWWA under R.A. 10801.
The logo also bears the colors of the Philippine flag, and the letter “P” for Philippines.
It has a “hug” design that presents OWWA’s “unwavering embrace” to the Filipinos working overseas.
“We want the logo to communicate heart-to-heart, kasi pag tinignan niyo siya, kahit di niyo busisiin, [because even if you look at it without analyzing it,] there is sort of a subliminal message that the logo communicates to us. And I hope that how we see it, is how you would also see it… that you have the OWWA and the DMW to take care of you,” said Ignacio.
The logo was revealed with the help of OFW guests, who held a short parade to present the new logo.
“We became very emotional after seeing the logo now launched kasi napakarami naming pinagdaanan. Hindi pala napakaliit na bagay ang magpalit ng logo… [We became very emotional after seeing the logo now launched because we went through so much. It’s not an easy task to just change logos…] Our logo exemplifies the emotions that our people in OWWA have in our engagement sa ating mga [with our] OFWs. We’re raising the bar higher. We’re not just aiming for OFW satisfaction, but for the delightful experience when you experience the OWWA and the DMW touch,” Ignacio added. — BM, GMA Integrated News
