FAMILY SHOCKED

Slovenian husband spent 3 months with slain Pinay's family

The parents of the slain FIlipina migrant in Slovenia said they were shocked after she died at the hands of her husband who stayed with their family for three months in Sta. Ana, Manila.

In his report on Saksi, Raffy Tima said the family of 27-year old Marvil Facturan-Kocjancic treated suspect Mitja Kocjancic properly when he stayed with them for several months during his visit to the Philippines last year.

Eutiquio and Vilma Facturan Pila are still in disbelief that their eldest daughter is dead in Slovenia.

The suspect was Marvil’s husband who lived with her family for three months in Manila before they left for Europe last December 17.

“Three months ka naming inaruga dyan sa bahay namin tapos pagdating dyan, 7 days lang yung nangyari, hindi ko talaga ma-imagine,” said Eutiquio.

(We took care of you for three months in our home but once you arrived there, it only took 7 days before what happened, I cannot imagine.)

Their son–in-law was even with the couple when Vilma celebrated her birthday last year.

“Pagbayaran mo yung ginawa mong pinatay mo yung anak ko. Dinala mo pa talaga dyan sa Slovenia para patayin lang, sana hindi mo na lang dinala yung anak ko dyan sa Slovenia, buhay pa sana yung anak ko dito sa Pilipinas,” the grieving mother said.

(You will pay for what you did to my daughter. You even took her to Slovenia just to kill her, you shouldn't have brought her there, she would still be alive in the Philippines.)

During the time Kocjancic spent in the Philippines, they did not see any problems with the Slovenian who even bought food from the market for them.

Marvil and Mitja were married last July.

“Sabi ko mag-ingat ka doon kasi mag isa ka lang. ‘Yun lang yung huling naming usapan talaga, tapos ‘yun, niyakap niya yung kapatid nya. ‘Yun na pala yung huli naming yakap noong time na yun,” said the victim’s father.

(I told her to be careful since she would be alone. That was the last time we really talked, and then she hugged her sister. That would turn out to be our final embrace.”

Aside from Marvil being stabbed to death during what was supposed to be a holiday in Bled, Slovenia, her family has yet to receive the complete details of the circumstances surrounding her untimely demise.

Their connection with Kocjancic was brief as well after the incident.

“Nag chat lang sila na sorry passed away na raw si Marvil tapos yun lang, nireplayan lang bigla na lang nag block na sila,” said Eutiquio.

(They chatted, saying they were sorry Marvel passed away and that was it, we replied then they blocked us.)

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) promised Marvil’s family that her remains will arrive in the country within the next few days, and if not, the following week.

The DFA advised that if even though the suspect reportedly has a history of mental illness, they should wait for the results of the investigation.

“Wala pong final findings pa, although sinusubaybayan ng ating honorary consul doon. Narinig nga natin may away pero siyempre napaka-disturbing naman na porket nag-away lang eh sinaksak na ng husto,” said DFA Undersecretary  Eduardo De Vega.

(There are still no final findings, although our honorary consul is still monitoring developments there. We learned there was a fight but of course, it would be very disturbing if someone fatally stabs a spouse during a marital spat.) —RF, GMA Integrated News
