DFA: Body of Filipina killed in Slovenia to be repatriated

Preparations are underway to repatriate the remains of a Filipina migrant who was allegedly murdered by her husband in Slovenia, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Sunday.
DFA Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega stated that the Philippine Embassy in Vienna, which oversees Slovenia, is coordinating the repatriation efforts, with funding provided by the DFA.
De Vega added that the autopsy on the victim, identified as Marvil Facturan, had been completed and the embassy was in touch with the victim's mother.
"The Philippine Government condemns this tragic incident and expresses its heartfelt condolences to the victim’s bereaved family in the Philippines," said the Foreign Affairs Undersecretary
"The Philippine Embassy in Vienna is working with the Slovenian authorities not only for the repatriation of the victim, but towards the attainment of justice."
Meanwhile, Philippine Ambassador to Austria Evangelina Lourdes Arroyo-Bernas said the Slovenian government has been "very cooperative" in the matter. De Vega also noted the critical role played by the Philippine Honorary Consul in Bratislava in gathering information and facilitating coordination.
Facturan was reportedly killed by her husband, Mitja Kocjancic, during a vacation in Bled, Slovenia, on December 29, according to a statement from the Commission on Filipinos Overseas released Friday.
“We extend our thoughts and prayers to Marvil's family. We stand in solidarity with them, condemning acts of domestic violence, seeking justice for our kababayan, and honoring the beautiful life she lived," the commission said. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
