5,000 jobs in Taiwan offered to Filipinos, MECO says
At least 5,000 job vacancies in Taiwan have been offered and are available to Filipinos, according the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) on Thursday.
In a message to GMA News Online, MECO Chairperson and Resident Representative Cheloy Garafil said, "We have around 5,000 job orders for the three job fairs. Hopefully mapuno natin (Hopefully, we can fulfill these orders)."
Garafil was referring to job fairs in Quezon City, Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija, and San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan.
The MECO and Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), in coordination with local officials and stakeholders, conducted Wednesday a job fair for the Taiwan employment opportunities at the City Sports Complex in San Jose del Monte.
According to the local government, 1,500 job vacancies in Taiwan have been allotted to the city's residents.
Jobs offered were in the sectors of semiconductor and e-chips production.
The processing of the requirements, starting from the medical examinations to deployment costs, was free, according to the local government.
The initiative sought to lower unemployment rate in the city, it added. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
