Filipino death row convict Mary Jane Veloso will be brought straight to the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City once she arrives in the Philippines, Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. confirmed Tuesday.

Veloso, who is set to be repatriated Wednesday morning after being detained in Indonesia for 14 years, will be placed in the former cell of Cassandra Li Ong, according to Super Radyo dzBB report by Emil Sumangil. Ong is the authorized representative of the raided POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga.

Catapang said the CIW in Mandaluyong City prepared adobong baboy and pastillas for Veloso, as per her request.

She will also be in quarantine in the first five days upon arrival and will undergo orientation and security evaluation for the next 55 days before being detained in a regular cell.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed Monday that Veloso will make her homecoming just in time for Christmas. She is expected to land in Manila at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18.

"I would like to inform you that the transfer of Mary Jane Veloso will take place tomorrow night at 12:15 a.m.," said I Nyoman Gede Surya Mataram, Indonesian Deputy Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections.

Philippine officials have also arrived in Indonesia early Tuesday morning for her turnover.

Convicted of drug trafficking in 2010, Veloso has been on death row in Indonesia for over a decade now.

Her camp has appealed to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos to grant her clemency following an agreement that would allow her to return to the Philippines. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
