Authorities arrest suspect in California shooting that killed 2 Filipinos
LAS VEGAS - Authorities in Los Angeles, California, have arrested the suspect in a shooting that resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including two Filipinos on November 16.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 19-year-old Miguel Sandoval, a resident of Lancaster.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Sandoval was charged with the murders of Filipino siblings Christine Aca-Ac, 26, and Janvi Maquindang, 21, as well as Edwin Garcia, 24, and Matthew Montebello.
Authorities found Christine and Janvi, along with Christine's fiancé Garcia, dead with gunshot wounds, while Montebello later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
The suspect also shot and killed three dogs belonging to the victims.
Sandoval fled the scene after setting the house where the shootings occurred on fire, according to the investigation. One victim managed to survive by hiding in a cabinet during the attack and called 911, prompting an immediate response.
The motive for the murders has not yet been released by investigators.
The Sheriff's Office is preparing to present the case against Sandoval to the District Attorney's Office on Monday. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
