South Korea offers voluntary departure for foreigners staying illegally

South Korea has allowed foreigners without any legal status to remain in the country to leave without sanctions, the Philippine Embassy in Seoul said.

Citing information from South Korea's Ministry of Justice, the embassy said foreigners who availed of the voluntary departure program from September 30 to November 30 would not be fined and would not be included in the list of travelers with re-entry restrictions.

Applicants may reach out to the Immigration Contact Center by dialing 1345 and selecting Filipino among the foreign languages available, or visit the HiKorea and Korea Immigration Service websites. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
