DMW, CamSur ink deal vs. illegal recruitment, trafficking

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Camarines Sur provincial government signed on Thursday a memorandum of agreement (MOA) intensifying actions against illegal recruitment and human trafficking at grassroots level.

The MOA was signed by DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac and Camarines Sur Governor Luigi Villafuerte in Naga City.

"The MOA aims to protect OFWs against illegal recruiters, traffickers, scammers, and syndicates through public information drives on safe migration, workers education sessions, and joint detection and case handling," said DMW in a statement.

Further, the DMW will also work together with Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the two cities and 35 municipalities in Camarines Sur, "to provide full-cycle reintegration services to overseas Filipino workers and their families through the establishment of the OFW Help Desk."
