No need to book reappointment for passport applicants affected by work suspension during Carina, Habagat —DFA

Passport applicants who were affected by the suspension of work in consular offices due to the recent floods and heavy rains don’t need to reschedule their appointments, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

According to Nimfa Ravelo’s report on Super Radyo dzBB on Thursday, applicants who were supposed to have appointments on July 24-25 can proceed to the consular offices from July 26 to August 26.

The report also said that affected passport applicants need to present a proof of their prior appointment and adhere to the original time slot of their appointment.

Work in government offices were suspended in Metro Manila on Wednesday and in Metro Manila, Regions 3 and 4A on Thursday due to the onslaught of Typhoon Carina and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

Several areas, including Metro Manila, have declared a state of calamity following the floods caused by the heavy rains.

Typhoon Carina, which reached super typhoon level on Wednesday, has already exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility, but PAGASA said rains may linger until Friday. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/KBK, GMA Integrated News
