DMW: Conditions of 2 OFWs injured in Kuwait fire improving

The two overseas Filipino workers who were injured in a dormitory fire in Kuwait are showing improvements in their conditions, the Department of Migrant Workers said Friday.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said one of the Filipino workers has been released from the hospital, while the other one is still in the intensive care unit but has shown signs of improvement.

“One who was in ICU then transferred to a hospital ward has been released and is now in company accommodation. The other OFW who is still in ICU has shown signs of improvement and we hope and pray he is on the road to full recovery,” said Cacdac in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The incident has led to the deaths of three other OFWs due to smoke inhalation, which was caused by a short circuit based on initial investigation.

The casualties were all working in a Kuwaiti construction company.

Meanwhile, six of their fellow Filipino colleagues who survived the fire remained in Kuwait. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
