3 Pinoys killed in Kuwait fire to be brought home on Monday

The remains of three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who died in a fire in Kuwait are set to arrive in the Philippines on Monday, according to a “24 Oras  Weekend” report.

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration chief Arnel Ignacio said that President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. had ordered the repatriation.

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said six other OFWs were safe and would be repatriated while two others were still recovering in hospital.

Meanwhile, the Indian government had given aid to the families of the 45 Indians who died in the fire.

The three OFWs perished from smoke inhalation. They were part of a group of OFWs working in a Kuwaiti construction company.

Initial investigation pointed to a short circuit as the cause of the fire at the workers' dormitory. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/DVM, GMA Integrated News
