Pinay, 3 children repatriated from Lebanon —DFA

A Filipina mother and her three children were repatriated from Lebanon earlier this month, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The repatriates left Lebanon on June 1 and arrived in the Philippines on June 2, the Philippine Embassy in Lebanon said Thursday.

The mother was an overseas Filipino worker who arrived in Lebanon in 2010, the embassy said.

She married her Lebanese spouse in 2012. However during the pandemic, the mother reportedly suffered from physical abuse and received grave threats to her life after her husband lost his job.

She then asked the embassy for assistance in repatriation.

Philippine Embassy’s Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Section, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO), and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) facilitated the repatriation of the mother and her children.

Since 2023 when the Philippine government raised Alert Level 3 (voluntary repatriation) in Lebanon, 273 distressed Filipinos were repatriated, the embassy said.

"The Embassy continues to monitor the situation across Lebanon and provides updated safety measures and advisories to Filipino nationals," it said.

"The voluntary repatriation program remains open to Filipino nationals who wish to return to the Philippines," the embassy added.
