27 alleged human trafficking victims in Cambodia back in PH
A total of 27 overseas Filipino workers allegedly forced into criminality in Cambodia returned to the country on Friday.
The Department of Migrant Workers welcomed the repatriates along with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and the NAIA Task Force Against Trafficking after the Cambodian National Police in coordination with the Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh rescued the victims last September.
The victims are now being processed for government assistance, while the DMW takes the lead in assisting them for the filing of syndicated illegal recruitment and qualified human trafficking complaints.
Meanwhile, the OWWA will provide transportation services for the repatriates to safely return to their respective homes.—Jiselle Anne Casucian/AOL, GMA Integrated News
