Israeli envoy offers condolences to family of Pinoy slain in Hamas attack

Israeli Ambassador to the Philippines Ilan Fluss over the weekend offered his condolences to the family of Angelyn Aguirre, one of the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) killed during the Hamas attacks in Israel last month.

In a statement, Fluss said he and Consul Moti Cohen offered their condolences and informed the Aguirre family that they would be provided with benefits and assistance as Angelyn was now listed among the Victims of Terror.

“I heard stories about Angelyn from her family and friends. She was a caring and loving person. May her memory be blessed,” Fluss said.

Aguirre was shot to death after refusing to leave her elderly patient amid the Hamas attacks on October 7. Her body was flown into Manila on Friday, November 3.

“Despite having a chance to flee the Hamas terror attacks, Angeline showed unbelievable humanity and loyalty by remaining at Nira’s side during the violence, resulting in both of them being brutally murdered by Hamas,” Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Fleur Hassan Nahoum said.

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Arnell Ignacio earlier said a hero’s welcome was being prepared for Aguirre.

Four Filipinos were confirmed to have died from the ongoing conflict in Israel: Loreta Alacre, 49; Paul Vincent Castelvi, a 42-year-old caregiver; Grace Prodigo Cabrera; and Aguirre. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
