Marcos, Kuwait Crown Prince discuss labor relations

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, had a bilateral meeting on Friday on the sidelines of the 2023 ASEAN-GCC Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 

The Presidential Communications Office said the two leaders discussed labor relations. 

It said the bilateral meeting was sought by the crown prince. 

No further details have been given as of posting time. 

In May, Kuwait suspended all new visas for Filipinos indefinitely in an escalation of a row between the oil-rich Gulf state and Manila over worker protections and employer rights. 

The visa suspension came after the Philippines in February stopped the first-time deployment of domestic workers to Kuwait after the body of domestic worker Jullebee Ranara was found in the Kuwaiti desert in January. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
