Marcos saddened, condemns killing of two Pinoys in Israel
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. was saddened over the death of two Filipinos amid the ongoing conflict in Israel.
In a statement on Wednesday, Marcos also denounced the violence and terror attacks in the country as he vowed to continue supporting affected Filipinos.
“My heart is heavy upon hearing confirmation of the deaths of two Filipinos in Israel. The Philippines condemns these killings and stands firmly against the ongoing terror and violence,” Marcos said in a statement.
He said the Philippine government would remain resolute in the pursuit of lasting peace in accordance with United Nations (UN) resolutions and international laws.
Marcos also ensured that the government would not cease sending support to all Filipinos affected by the ongoing conflict between the Israeli forces and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) earlier confirmed the killing of two Filipinos in the ongoing conflict.
“The Philippines condemns the killing of two Filipino nationals and all other acts of terrorism and violence as a result of Hamas actions against Israel,” DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo said.
No further detail has been given yet as regards the killings of the two Filipinos.
Marcos earlier tasked the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to locate and account for all OFWs and their families in Israel.
He also instructed all the agencies involved in protecting the welfare of the overseas Filipino workers and the Filipino community to work closely with the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv and the Migrant Workers Office in Israel to ensure their safety. —KG, GMA Integrated News
