'ALLEGED MURDER'

OFW found dead with stab wounds in Saudi Arabia

A 32-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) was found dead in Saudi Arabia, according to Russel Simorio's report on 24 Oras Weekend on Saturday.

The victim was identified as domestic worker Marjorette Garcia.

Garcia's family is still unsure of what happened to Marjorette.

"Hindi pa namin alam ngayon kung ano talaga kinamatay niya. Pero ang sabi nila, sinaksak daw siya. Hindi pa namin talaga alam ano ang resulta," said the victim's mother-in-law, Mercelita Garcia.

Marjorette was last able to talk to her family on September 15, 2023.

Her family is now seeking the government's help as they seek justice for the 32-year-old OFW.

“Mapadali po [sana] ang pag-uwi ng labi niya, tapos yung sa hustisya niya po na nangyari sa kanya. Hanggang ngayon, wala pang alam kung anong nangyari sa kanya. [Kung] bakit pinatay po,” said Tito Garcia Jr., the victim’s husband.

The family has already reached out to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), who said that they are collaborating with other agencies to help in the investigation and bring the victim's body home.

“It was forwarded to us from the Central Office. We all know nga po na this is allegedly murder. The remains will undergo thorough investigation,” said OWWA-1 Post Arrival Repatriation Unit Officer Jennifer Dellosa.

OWWA will handle the family’s travel expenses to Metro Manila to take Marjorette’s body home once it arrives in the Philippines. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
