Philippines suspends accreditation of new foreign recruitment agencies in Kuwait

The Philippine government has suspended its accreditation of new foreign recruitment agencies in Kuwait.

According to Sandra Aguinaldo's report on "24 Oras", the Department of Migrant Workers said the move was to ensure the new recruitment agencies would be carefully evaluated.

The department said the move was not related to the case of Jullebee Ranara, who was brutally killed in Kuwait.

"We're just deferring the applications for accreditation of new foreign recruitment agencies in Kuwait," DMW spokesman Toby Nebrida said.

He said accredited recruitment agencies remained in operation.

"It's just really making sure that the evaluation for job orders, for evaluating and assessing the recruitment agency and the employer," Nebrida said. —Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA Integrated News
