OFW raped by employer in Saudi Arabia seeks rescue

An overseas Filipina worker in Saudi Arabia asked to be rescued after she was raped by her male employer and physically abused by his wife.

According to JP Soriano's report on "24 Oras" on Thursday, the OFW, identified as "Rose" said that just a few months into her employment in Dammam, she began to be physically abused by her female employer, while her male employer began to act lasciviously towards her. 

One day, while the wife was on vacation in Riyadh, the husband raped Rose.

"Binaboy niya po ako. Pinupwersa niya ako, hinila niya ako," Rose said.

[He abused me. He was forcing me, grabbing me.]

She said she immediately called her agency to report what happened, then her employer raped her again.

After this, Rose decided to leave while the man was sleeping.

"Nagdesisyon akong lumabas ng bahay kasi natakot ako kung ano na namang gawin niya sa akin [I decided to leave because I was afraid of what he might do to me again]," Rose said tearfully, adding that there were few cars and people, and she walked on in a daze without knowing where to go next.

While Rose was walking, a friend of her male employer saw her and called him. He fetched her and, perhaps due to fear, brought her to the agency.

Rose's passport and travel documents, however, remain in her female employer's possession.

"Ngayon po malapit na pong umuwi siya, ang plano ko po ay makauwi na ng Pilipinas bago niya ako abutan kasi baka siya ang pumatay sa akin," Rose said.

[Now that it's nearing her return, I plan to return to the Philippines before she catches up with me because she might kill me.]

"Tulungan niyo po ako. Gusto ko po makita ang mga anak ko. Parang awa niyo na sir, ma'am," she added.

[Please help me. I want to see my children.]

GMA News reached out to the Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia and it vowed swift action on the matter.

The Embassy also promised to get Rose's passport and other travel documents from her employer. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
