No Pinoys among Typhoon Jebi casualties —DFA

No Filipinos were hurt in the onslaught of Typhoon Jebi, the most powerful storm to hit Japan in 25 years, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday.

"The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo and the Philippine Consulate General in Osaka have not received any reports of Filipinos being among the 10 fatalities and 300 injured in the aftermath of the typhoon," the DFA said.

The DFA assured that it continues to monitor the 280,000 Filipinos living in Japan.

The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo and the Philippine Consulate General in Osaka offered assistance to affected Filipinos through its numbers +8180 4928 7979 and +8190 4036 7984.

Kansai International Airport also cancelled all flights on Thursday due to the weather and power outages caused by the weather.

Jebi's course brought it close to parts of western Japan hit by rains and flooding that killed more than 200 people in July but most of the damage this time appeared to be from the wind. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
