Boy band, teener latest Pinoys to wow ‘X Factor UK’ judges

An all-Filipino boy band and a Filipino-Australian singer have wowed judges in "X Factor UK" during their auditions aired over the weekend.

Joshua Bulot, Bryan Del Rosario, and Kim Lawrenz Ordonio, or JBK, got a golden ticket to bootcamp after all four judges gave their rendition of Sam Smith's "Lay Me Down" the thumbs up.

Their performance was great enough to earn comparisons to 4th Impact, the Filipino girl group that won the reality singing show in 2015.

In a message on their Facebook page, JBK said they are hoping to "bring the Philippines as much pride" as 4th Impact did two years ago.

"We are humbly asking for everyone's support. Please like and share this post. Thank you," they said.

While JBK flew non-stop for 24 hours to make it to the audition, teen Elysa Villareal or Elysa V made it to the auditions all the way from Sydney, Australia.

Elysa V's Filipino mom watched off-stage while her Filipino dad watched at home as she covered "X Factor UK" alumnus Fleur East's hit song "Sax" to advance to the next stage of the show.

JBK and Elysa V join Gaga Lord, a 40-year-old self-described "dinner lady" who impressed judge Simon Cowell with her rendition of Shirley Bassey's "Diamonds are Forever" in X Factor's bootcamp. —KBK, GMA News
