Pinoy survivor in Bulk Jupiter sinking returns to Manila
The lone Filipino survivor in the sinking of cargo ship Bulk Jupiter will return to Manila on Wednesday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
“Angelito Rojas is being repatriated to the Philippines today, January 7. He requests his and his family’s privacy during this stressful time,” DFA spokesman Charles Jose said.
The Bahamas-flagged vessel, manned by 19 Filipino sailors, sank off Vietnamese waters last January 2. Two were killed while 16 others remained missing as of Wednesday.
Jose said a two man-team from the Philippine Embassy in Hanoi arrived in Ho Chi Minh City Tuesday evening to assist Manila’s Honorary Consul General in coordinating with the relevant authorities for the shipment of remains of the two recovered victims. —Michaela del Callar/KBK, GMA News
