Filipino group A-Team bags gold at 2014 World Hip Hop Dance Championship
The Philippines' own A-Team trumped teams from around the world to bring home the 2014 Hip Hop International World Championship for the megacrew division on Monday.
It is the first time that the Philippines won in the megacrew division of the world dance competition. Most of the country's previous victories in the competition came from the Adult Crew category, with The Crew winning in 2012, Armistice in 2011, and the Philippine All Stars in 2009, 2008 and 2006.
Dance group C.I.D.G also bagged the Varsity Crew crown in 2007.
The A-Team had their first podium finish at a local competition in 2011 at the Slimmers World Step-Up Philippines in 2011. Since then, they've been competing in Singapore, the United States, and Australia.

Another Filipino group, the Romancon Dance Company from College of Saint Benilde, was a crowd favorite in the World Adult Division. While the group failed to make it to the podium, many thought that the group deserved a medal.
Hip hop artist Lil Mama, a judge on "America's Best Dance Crew" even tweeted out her excitement for Romancon's performance.
