Former PHL tourism attache Godfrey Lumauig passes away in US


Godfrey B. Lumauig, a former Philippine tourism attache in New York, passed away in Edison, N.J. on Sept. 4 after a brief illness with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
 
Born in Kiangan, Ifugao on Nov. 8, 1938, Lumauig graduated from the University of the Philippines with a bachelor of science degree in public administration.  
 
Above and beyond his successful diplomatic career, his true accomplishments was his family.
 
He was married for 47 years to Maria Rosa (Melahi) Lumauig; a father to Joel and Belle, Cheryl and Brian; and grandfather to Amanda Belle, Diego Francisco and Carinna Gano.
 
He was the youngest brother of Angelina Manuel, former Rep. Romulo Lumauig, former Gov. and Rep. Gualberto Lumauig, and Serenica Lumauig.
 
“Godfrey was the consummate diplomat, he loved to entertain whenever he had the opportunity,” according to his family and friend.
 
“He loved to invite people for get togethers. He was a true friend to many. His life will be measured by how many people he has touched.”
 
A memorial mass was held at St. Helena’s Church in Edison. - Filipino Reporter
