Model, TV host Joey Mead King to judge Asia's Next Top Model

Model and TV personality Joey Mead-King will be a judge and mentor for Cycle 1 of "Asia’s Next Top Model" (Asia’sNTM) which will be aired late 2012.

Asia’sNTM is a spinoff of the reality model search series on TV, "America’s Next Top Model (ANTM) which will give young Asian women the chance to experience the high-stakes world of international modeling. Mead-King will be joining Asia’sNTM host Nadya Hutagalung and co-judges fashion director Daniel Boey and fashion photographer Todd Anthony Tyler.

The Filipino-Persian Mead-King was born in the Philippines but raised in Australia. On her blog Power to the Pinay, Mead-King describes herself like the Filipino dessert “halo-halo” since “that's kinda like how I am...a mixture of all things in one bowl topped with ice cream.”

“It is an honor to be considered a Philippine Supermodel and I make sure I use this honor wisely and want every woman to think herself as a supermodel in whatever she choses to be in this life,” she posted on her blog.

Mead-King is best known for her five-year stint with Channel [V] International as a Video-Jockey (VJ) where she got to interview international artists like N’SYNC, 98’ Degrees and Sixpence None the Richer.

In 2001, Mead-King moved to Singapore and a year later to Los Angeles. From LA, she frequently traveled to Singapore and New York for her modeling and commercial commitments.

In 2005, she moved back to the Philippines “where my heart resides” and usually went out of the country for her ESPN and HBO cable shows.

Mead-King also teaches modeling basics as a runway coach while being an advice columnist for Women’s Health magazine.

She also gives back to the community as a member of Philippine Animals Welfare Society (PAWS) and Chosen Children Village.

Coincidentally, another Filipino — fashion blogger “Bryan Boy” — will be judging Cycle 19 of ANTM in the US with model Rob Evans and fashion publicist Kelly Cutrone. - VVP, GMA News
