Fil-Am 'DJ P-Jay' one of the hottest disc jockeys in US


Filipino-American disc jockey Phillip Sison, a.k.a. "DJ P-Jay,"  of Radio Power 106 in Los Angeles, is currently one of the hottest disc jockeys in the United States. DJ P-Jay has worked with big name celebrities like Nelly, Far East Movement, Too Short, Jeremih, Mario, J.Cole, and Lil Jon. He has also worked as a disc jockey for boxing icon and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, actress Jennifer Aniston, and athletes like Shannon Brown, Ron Artest, and Lamar Odom.

Radio Power 106 said DJ P-Jay has performed for international celebrities, musicians, and athletes like Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, Apl De Ap of The Black Eyed Peas, Mario, Rza of the Wu-Tang Clan, and even the LA Lakers, to name a few.

Aside from being a radio host, DJ P-Jay is a video DJ at Lucky Strike LA Live every Friday. He is also a monthly resident DJ at Eye Candy Lounge at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino. According to the website of the community arts organization Fil-am Arts, DJ P-Jay has also been a disc jockey in Macau, China, Japan and the Philippines, particularly at Hacienda in Angeles City, Pampanga; Resorts World Manila, and 7th High at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig.   He recently finished a three-city Japan tour performing in Toyota, Nagano and Nagoya. Tape deck players DJ P-Jay was born in Los Angeles to naturalized American citizens Pete and Myrna Sison. Pete is a mechanical engineer at a major engineering company while Myrna is a food service manager at one of the major hospitals in Los Angeles. According to his profile on Radio Power 106, DJ P-Jay's interest in music began when he and his two older brothers started tinkering with school tape deck players in 1996. The brothers then decided to buy two turntables, a mixer, and the whole nine yards to explore further their passion for music and mixing. In an interview with GMA News Online, DJ P-Jay said it would be a "huge honor and my pleasure to perform again in the Philippines.” He deeply appreciates his Filipino fans, saying "Maraming salamat po sa lahat na sumosuporta sa akin." DJ P-Jay said his Pinoy heroes include "Manny Pacquiao, who gave the Philippines name and recognition, and Apl De Ap also inspires me by giving back and helping out fellow Filipinos back home." Among entertainment celebrities, he looks up to Ryan Agoncillo, his father's nephew, and Carina Afable, his father's first cousin. "They both give joy and entertainment to the Filipino audience both here and abroad. Last but not the least, all the hard-working Filipinos who sacrifice their time away from their families in order to make a living,” DJ P-Jay said.       Asked what he misses about the Philippines, DJ P-Jay mentioned the Filipinos' hospitality and friendliness, aside from the "fresh food” in the country. Keep practicing   "I plan to continue and further my career DJing on the Los Angeles radio waves and nightlife as well as performing abroad," DJ P-Jay said. For him, the "next step is to produce my own remixes as well as original tracks to play in the clubs. I would also like to assist others reach and attain their dreams and goals.” His advice to those who want to follow in his footsteps? “Keep practicing. Put your heart into everything you do. Never give up your dreams. Pursue them... practice humility. And to remember our dear Lord, for all these wonderful gifts,” he said.   In a report in news site Asian Journal, DJ P-Jay mentioned the key elements to his success — hard work, dedication, commitment, passion, and humility.
