Husband doubts cause of death of Pinay nurse in Abu Dhabi

The husband of the Filipino nurse who died in Abu Dhabi, UAE believes that there’s more story behind her death.

Kenneth Paul Ancheta said that he could not contact his wife, Reyna Jane, for three days since October 6.

“Maghapon ng Sunday hindi siya nag-reply, ang akala ko naman ah baka walang WiFi. Nung Monday mine-message ko pa rin, magtatanghali na, wala pa rin. Doon na po ako nag-report,” he said in Joseph Morong’s report on “24 Oras” on Friday.

(She did not reply to me the whole Sunday and I thought maybe she had no WiFi connection. I kept messaging her on Monday, but there was still no reply from her. So I decided to report about it.)

Ancheta decided to reach out to his wife’s agency as well as her friends in Abu Dhabi after not receiving any response from her.

On October 8, he received the news from the agency that his wife was found along a highway on the way to Dubai, which is two hours away from Abu Dhabi.

“Nagulat po ako dun…Hindi po ako makapaniwala na ganoon ang nangyari sa wife ko po,” said Ancheta.

(I was shocked…I couldn’t believe what happened to my wife.)

But Ancheta is curious as to why his wife’s phone and Emirates ID were not found at the scene.

The agency, however, made another report saying that Reyna Jane died in a car accident.

“Car collision, nasa loob naman daw siya ng sasakyan, binunggo naman daw ng sasakyan nila,” said Ancheta. “Doon na ako nag-doubt talaga na may something, which is may cover-up na nangyari.”

(They said it was a car collision, she was inside the vehicle and she was hit…And I’m really doubting it now, I think there could be a cover-up.)

Ancheta recalled that he and his late wife talked before about the two foreigners in her dorm who liked her, and she met a fellow Filipino abroad.

“Natatakot siya every night na umuuwi,” he said. “Di ba uso doon yung binebenta?”

(She was afraid to go home every night…Abduction is common there, right?)

Ancheta now wants to go to Abu Dhabi to find the answers himself.

“Ang gusto ko lang talaga hustisya para sa wife ko.Gusto kong malaman at makita ang proof na vehicular accident talaga,” he said. “Kung vehicular accident tapos may naipakita siya na proof na siya talaga yun dun ako mapapanatag.”

(What I want is justice for my wife. I just want to see proof that it was a vehicular accident. If so, then that’s the only time I would be at peace.)

But Reyna Jane’s agency maintained that it was a car accident.

“We have limited information din kasi kahit mayroon pang counterpart sa Abu Dhabi,” a recruitment staffer of MITC International Manpower Agency said.

(We just have limited information even though we have a counterpart in Abu Dhabi.)
