Philippine Consulate in Jeddah denies allegations of OFW abuse
The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia has denied allegations that an overseas Filipino worker was slapped and verbally abused at their office.
In a video, Marvin Carnate Andigos alias Baleriano Mariano Altamerano asked the Philippine Government to investigate the personnel involved in the incident.
"Mr. Agdigos/Tamerano's allegations in that video and another video he has made are false and utterly basesless," the consulate said in a statement released on April 5.
According to the consulate general, Andigos was invited to a dialogue with the agency on April 5, which he accepted.
"The dialogue went as planned, with the parties involved given a fair chance to air their sides of the issue. Mr. Agdigos/Tamerano was received well at the Consulate and he went through the standard screening procedure without any incident as he is now falsely claiming," it said.
"The Consulate does not and will not also tolerate any form of abuse or ill-treatment will not be tolerated against any member of the Filipino community, as we are here to protect everyone." -- Joahna Lei Casilao/BAP, GMA News
