Fruit delicacies ng La Union, ihahain sa 'Pinas Sarap'


 


Ang  susunod nating summer foodtrip, ang probinsiyang dinarayo dahil sa naglalakihang alon at tinaguriang Surfing Capital of the North, ang La Union!

 

 


Kung sawa na kayong magtampisaw at lumangoy sa dagat at naghahanap ng challenging beach sports, subukan niyo nang mag surfing sa La Union! Kakaibang thrill kasi ang hatid nang pagsakay sa alon. Pero bukod sa surfing, binibisita rin ang La Union tuwing tag-init dahil sa matatamis nilang summer fruits! Pagkatapos niyo magsurfing, tikman ang iba’t ibang fruit bowls nila na bukod sa masarap na, masustansiya pa.

 

 

Ang bayan ng Bauang ang tinaguriang fruit basket ng La Union dahil sa iba’t ibang prutas na nakatanim dito. Kung inaakala ninyong sa malalamig na bansa lang tumutubo ang grapes, nagkakamali kayo. Dahil sa Bauang, summer is the best time for grape picking. Tuwing tag-init daw ang may pinakamaraming ani ng grapes. Isa pa sa prutas na ipinagmamalaki nila, ang guapple. Dahil sinlaki ng mansanas ang bayabas na ito, hinango ang pangalan nito sa guava at apple.

 

 

 

Pero ang grapes at guapple nila hindi lang kinakain bilang fresh fruits. Bukod sa ginagawa nila itong jam, jelly at wine maniniwala ba kayo na ginagamit din nilang sangkap ang mga prutas na ito sa pagluluto? Tikman na ang kanilang Igadobas ti bauang na igado na pinasarap ng grapes at guapple, at ang dinakdakan with guapple. 

 

 


Kung gusto niyo namang magpalamig, meron din silang cool dessert na paborito nating mga Pilipino, ang halo-halo. Pero ang mga halo-halo nila kakaiba. Nakatikim na bakayo ng halo-halo na gawa sa gulay? O kaya naman ay halo-halo na walang yelo?

In our next Summer food trip, we will travel to a province people visit because of its big waves and known as the Surfing Capital of the North, La Union!

If you are tired of just swimming in the ocean and you are looking for a more challenging beach sports, try surfing in La Union! Every stroke of the waves hitting your board is definitely a thrill. Aside from surfing, people travel to La Union every summer because of their sweet summer fruits. After surfing, you can try their different fruit bowls that are yummy and nutritious.

The town of Bauang is known as the fruit basket of La Union because of various fruits that is grown here. And if you think that grapes only grow in cold places, you are mistaken. Because in Bauang, Summer is the best time for grape-picking because they harvest many grapes in summer. Another fruit of Bauang is guapple. This fruit is as big as apple, thus, the name guapple is derived from guava and apple.

But their grapes and guapple are not only consumed as fresh fruits. They also make this as jam, jelly and wine, and they even use the fruits in their dishes. Try their igadobas ti bauang, an igado dish that has grapes and guapple, and their dinakdakan with guapple.

If you want refreshment, they also have cool dessert that is a Pinoy favourite, halo-halo; but a halo-halo with a twist. Have you tried halo-halo that is made from vegetables, or halo-halo without the ice?
