Photo Gallery: ‘Biyahe ni Drew’ celebrates first anniversary in Batanes

When “Biyahe ni Drew” was just starting out, host Drew Arellano said his dream destination was Batanes. One year later, and GMA News TV’s budget-friendly travel show has been to the Enchanted River of Surigao del Sur, eaten steamed buns on Cheung Chau Island, surfed in La Union, and more.

But this Friday, Drew's dream is coming true. Catch the “Biyahe ni Drew” first anniversary episode featuring Batanes this Friday, March 7, at 8:00 p.m. on GMA News TV!

Here are behind-the-scenes photos from Alan Ebora, our segment producer, and Bea Rodriguez, this episode’s researcher.

At the northern tip of the Philippines, Batanes is unfamiliar territory even for many Filipinos. This makes for an exciting food trip, too. The “Biyahe ni Drew” crew enjoyed this feast at Sabtang Island.

This happened. What do you think of the “‘Biyahe ni Drew’ calendar boys?”

Meet our resident goofballs. Assistant cameraman Mong de los Reyes (L) and cameraman Rey Ochavez have been shooting travel shows with Drew for years!

Batanes’ signature shellfish, coconut crab, goes perfectly with a cup of spiced rice.

We had a very special “crew member” for this shoot. Rey (center) and our segment producer, Alan Ebora (L), approve. Can you guess who it was?

Safety first. Assistant cameraman Mong takes a break from shooting and climbs onto the wave breakers at a port on Batan Island.

With a view like that, Batanes was a dream come true not just for Drew, but for the entire team of “Biyahe ni Drew” as well.
