Missing Chicago pregnant woman found dead with baby forcibly removed from womb
The remains of a teenage mother who was pregnant with another child on the way were discovered at a home in southwest Chicago, officials confirmed on Wednesday, and her unborn child was ripped from her womb.
Chicago police said several people have been taken into custody following the discovery of the remains of a missing pregnant teen mother at a home on the southwest side of the city.
Her body was discovered with her unborn child reportedly ripped from her womb.
She was purportedly lured to a home under the pretense that she was picking up clothes for her unborn child, a local CBS station reported.
She had been strangled and left in a trash can.
The baby was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
"Grandma was telling me the baby is beautiful but the baby is in critical condition. We're praying, she's like, I believe in miracles, 'I don't believe what the doctors tell me,'" said Celia Garcia, family spokesperson.
Marlen Ochoa-Lopez was reported missing on April 23rd after failing to pick up her 3-year-old son from day care.
Her family had pleaded for her safe return, saying her son refused to eat with her mother gone.
Those in custody were allegedly inside the house where Ochoa-Lopez had gone to pick up baby clothes. —Reuters
