Bicol death toll due to Rolly up to 20
The number of fatalities in the Bicol Region from Typhoon Rolly has climbed to 20, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Region 5 said Monday night.
In its 9 p.m. report, the OCD said 14 of the victims were from Albay (Daraga, 1; Guinobatan, 7; Malinao, 3; Polangui, 1; Tabaco City, 2;) while six were from Catanduanes (Gigmoto, 1; Virac, 4; San Miguel, 1).
The OCD said 95,958 families or 368,395 individuals were displaced by the cyclone.
Of this number, 77,041 families are taking shelter in evacuation centers while 18,917 families are outside evacuation centers.
The OCD added that 20,923 houses in the region were totally damaged and 58,415 were partially damaged.
The Department of Agriculture in Region 5 also reported over P1.2 million in losses after more than 17,000 hectares of agricultural land were hit by Rolly.
The Department of Public Works and Highways also said over P4.6 million in damages were incurred by national roads, bridges, flood control, and other buildings and infrastructure in the region.
