1 missing, 7 rescued as yacht sinks off Bauan, Batangas

A yacht with eight people on board sank off Bauan in Batangas province at the height of Typhoon Quinta, a port official said Monday.

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV, Joselito Sinocruz, manager of Batangas Port, said seven people were rescued while one was missing.

The port official said the vessel that sank was named Ocean Explorer III.

Sinocruz said the weather was harsh in the province due to Quinta. As of Monday morning, Bauan and other areas in the southern portion of Batangas were under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS No. 3).

"Napakalakas pa po [ng ulan at hangin], dito lang po sa loob ng port ay ilan na po yung punong natumba. Meron po akong nakitang tatlong sasakyan na natumbahan po ng puno," he said. —KBK, GMA News
