Chinese national in Subic Bay tests positive for COVID-19

A Chinese national who was staying at a hotel in the Subic Bay Freeport in Zambales tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to a Saturday 24 Oras Weekend report.

According to Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority chief Wilma Eisma, the Chinese national was a former Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation employee who was given a swab test because he was looking for a job.

The Chinese national has been in Subic since March. He did not know where he could have acquired the virus, but it was speculated that he got it from the hotel's dining area.

Authorities have started the contact tracing process.
